Peculiarities of vascular tunic microstructure of the white rat eyeball under the effect of opioid.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated a negative effect of the prolonged injection of opioid in the experiment on the state of microstructural organization of the eyeball vascular tunic. Development of angiopathy is the triggering for occurrence of destructive changes in the eyeball under the effect of opioid. PMID: 26662139 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) - key factor in normal and pathological angiogenesis.
This article aims to highlight the most recent data referring to the VEGF family and its receptors, as well as its implications in the angiogenesis process. At present, blocking angiogenesis in cancer or in other pathological processes, using anti-VEGF and anti-VEGFRs therapies, is considered to be extremely important. Role of imagistic techniques in diagnosing soft-tissue vascular anomalies in pediatric population - a 5-year experience.
In conclusion, there is a need for collaboration between the clinician, radiologist, pathologist and surgeon in order to establish a precise diagnosis and therapeutic strategy for each patient. PMID: 31658323 [PubMed - in process]

Vascular calcification in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients.
Authors: Peride I, ChecheriŢă IA, Smarandache DR, Rădulescu D, Sinescu RD, Niculae A, Pricop C Abstract Vascular calcifications represent a severe complication of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 5. The factors influencing the development of this complication are in close relation with the pathology of chronic dialysis premorbid condition, and with therapy as well. The present article highlights the association between several factors and the development or the aggravation of vascular calcifications in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients. The...

Triple immunohistochemistry for assessing the inflammatory, vascular and progression of adenomyosis.
Authors: Istrate-Ofiţeru AM, Pîrvan IC, Pirici D, Roşu GC, Niculescu M, Berceanu S, Manolea MM, Comănescu MV, Voicu NL, Iovan L, Vasile MM, Căpitănescu RG, Diţescu D, Mogoantă L, Berceanu C Abstract Adenomyosis is a benign pathology, common to both women at reproductive age as well as later during menopause. This condition is accompanied by a strong symptomatology, which has induced intense research on this topic. From a morphological point of view, it is represented by the existence of endometrial glands and, sometimes, of the periglandular stroma (endometriosis) in the structure of the myometrium, at a si...

Enhanced expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and increased microvascular density in women with endometrial hyperplasia: a possible relationship with uterine natural killer cells.
Authors: Elfayomy AK, Almasry SM, Attia GM, Habib FA Abstract This case-control study aimed to investigate the expression of natural killer cells (NKCs) and the integrated optical density (IOD) of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and to quantify microvascular density (MVD) in endometrial biopsies from women with endometrial hyperplasia (EH) relative to normal subjects. Histological data from four groups were analyzed. The study population included 30 women with simple EH without atypia, 25 patients with complex EH without atypia, 25 with complex EH with atypia and 25 healthy women with non-hyperplastic end...

Immunoexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor in gingival mucosa with papilloma and condyloma acuminata.
Authors: Scrieciu M, MercuŢ V, Andrei OC, Predescu AM, Niculescu M, Pisoschi CG, BaniŢă IM Abstract The histological changes of the oral mucosa in contact with a metal alloy dentures is one of the current issues widely debated in the literature. AIM: To highlight the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in human paraprosthetic gingival mucosa exposed to nickel and copper compounds using the immunohistochemical technique. The selected participants were wearers of fixed dentures made of nickel-based alloys and copper-based alloys. The gingival mucosa fragments were prelevated through excisio...

Vascular endothelial growth factor in systemic lupus erythematosus - correlations with disease activity and nailfold capillaroscopy changes.
Authors: Bărbulescu AL, Vreju AF, Bugă AM, Sandu RE, Criveanu C, Tudoraşcu DR, Gheonea IA, Ciurea PL Abstract Our study aimed to quantify serum VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and its inter-relation with the severity of microvascular damage, assessed by nailfold capillaroscopy (NC), and to establish the possible relationship with disease activity score. We included 18 patients, diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and 17 gender and age-matched control subjects. For determining serum VEGF, we used a Human VEGF Assay kit-IBL. NC was performed, according to the standard method, using a video-...

Correlations between intratumoral interstitial fibrillary network and vascular network in Srigley patterns of prostate adenocarcinoma.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results could plead for the hypothesis that the different subtypes of tumor architecture represent steps of a continuous process from well-differentiated status to poorly or undifferentiated status but who is accomplished by two different tumor cells populations with different distinct behavior in their relationship with the stromal microenvironment. Vascular endothelial growth factor - key mediator of angiogenesis and promising therapeutical target in ulcerative colitis.
We present a retrospective cohort study evaluating mucosal expression of VEGF and CD105 and their correlation with patients' evolution and risk of relapse. In our study, patients with UC have correlated increases of VEGF expression and microvessel density (evaluated with CD105 staining), sustaining the hypothesis that angiogenesis is not just a passive process driven by inflammation, but an active player of mucosal lesions in ulcerative colitis. The role of androgen receptors in vascular and cell proliferation of the prostate adenocarcinomas
In this study, we analyzed the immunoexpression of androgen receptor (AR), cluster of differentiation 105 (CD105) and Ki67 for 61 cases of PA, in relation to the main clinicopathological parameters of the lesions. The AR scores, CD105 microvessel density (MVD) and Ki67 proliferation index (PI) were significantly higher in patients with serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) above 20 ng∕mL, in ductal, colloid and sarcomatoid types of PA, in growth patterns 4-5 or mixed, respectively in the case of high-grade advanced stage tumors, with perineural and vascular invasion, as well as in groups with a reserved prognosis. The re...
